Playing in Portugal - Holgas
Over the last few years I have been trying to find my sweet spot within the analogue photography space. Film had already reignited my passion for photography and now I was exploring ways to challenge myself more in that realm. My interest was shifting toward slow photography and so I began my move towards medium format film.
On my last couple of trips to Portugal, a country we love and visit at leat once in two years, I decided to push the envelope and packed just my Holgas including the 6x6, 35mm and panoramic formats.
This proved to be a serious challenge but one I enjoyed thoroughly. Changing film on the go was tough and not knowing what images would result even after nailing exposure was nerve racking and exhilarating at the same time.
Turns out I still need to figure out certain aspects of these unpredictable toys but I could not have been happier with the results. The slightly off exposures, the unintentional double exposures, the intentional double exposures and the light leaks all contributed to the low-fi look that I love.
Definitely something I will build on for the next few years.
And always I bring my images alive by creating a zine. Very little emphasis on design. Just a more enjoyable way to
